EU Settlement Scheme

The deadline for the EU Settlement Scheme is 30 June 2021. EU, EEA and Swiss citizens that have been living in the UK before 31 December 2020 must apply to remain in the UK after 30 June 2021.

Individuals will then be awarded settled or pre-settled status. Settled status is for those who have been in the UK for a continuous 5 year period and pre-settled status is for those who have been in the UK for less than 5 years. They will receive a 5 year visa.

Please note that even those who have been granted permanent residence under EEA Regulations must still apply to convert it to settled status before 30 June 2021. Also note that each individual must be registered separately, including children.

The Scheme is still open and full application guidance can be found here.

If you are planning to move to the UK after 1 January 2021, EU, EEA and Swiss citizens will need to apply in advance to receive permission to work in the UK.
