Q&A: Jason Coker on Live Wire Joining Sopher + Co and the Future of Entertainment Business Management
We caught up with Jason Coker, formerly from Live Wire Business Management UK and now at Sopher + Co, to hear his thoughts on the recent acquisition, what it means for the music and entertainment business management landscape, and how clients stand to benefit.

Jason, you've recently joined Sopher + Co through the acquisition of Live Wire Business Management UK. What drew you and the team at Live Wire to Sopher + Co?
It's been an exciting transition. At Live Wire, we've always prided ourselves on offering highly personalised, hands-on support tailored specifically for artists and creatives. It was clear from the outset that Sopher + Co shares those same values but bring a wider range of services and a bigger platform.
Joining forces means we can now offer clients not just the boutique attention they're used to, but also access to broader tax expertise, advanced tech, international reach and access to Sopher + Co Private Office's services. It felt like the right move to help us grow and serve our clients better.

How do you think this acquisition changes business management accounting within the entertainment and music industries?
The entertainment and music industries are undergoing rapid transformation. With streaming economics, evolving royalty rights, increased globalisation of tours, and AI-generated content disrupting traditional revenue models, financial management has never been more complex or critical.
Business management in entertainment is no longer just about bookkeeping or handling expenses. It's strategic, data-driven, and cross-border. Artists today are not just performers; they're brands, IP holders, content producers, and often business owners in their own right. They need advisors who can offer that 360-degree view — from digital rights to tax mitigation across jurisdictions.
The acquisition of Live Wire positions Sopher + Co to be at the forefront of this new era, one where the lines between financial advisory, brand management, and international structuring are increasingly blurred.

For those new to entertainment business management, how would you describe what you do?
It's about much more than just crunching numbers. We help artists, creatives and those involved in the sports industry manage the financial side of their careers in a way that fits their unique cash flow and lifestyle. That includes budgeting, royalty accounting, tax compliance, tour finances – even lifestyle planning at times. The goal is to take the financial pressure off our clients so they can focus on their creativity, while we make sure everything behind the scenes runs smoothly.

What's next for you and the team at Sopher + Co now that LWBM UK is onboard?
We're focused on growing the entertainment offering further by investing in smarter tech and staying ahead of industry changes. Being part of Sopher + Co gives us the scale and resources to do that.
Ultimately, we want to be the trusted partner for those in the music, entertainment and sports industry for all their financial needs, wherever their careers take them.
